There are many variations of precious gemstones. The colour, cut and carat weight are all accumulated to create a unique array of stones, which can add something truly special to a piece of jewellery. Clarity is also a deciding factor within a gemstones value, however, inclusions can create captivating patterns and give a stone character; what one person dislikes about the irregularity of a stone, another may find intriguing.
As well as the better known classics such as Sapphires, Emeralds and Rubies there is a whole host of options such as; Tourmalines, Tanzanites, Opals, Spinels, and Alexandrites. These can come in an array of colours, natural bi-colours and even natural colour-changing stones. If you are looking for something outside of the ordinary to commission as a bespoke designer piece, or even as an alternative engagement ring, we can source one-off precious and semi-precious gemstones that have been ethically sourced.
Fancy Coloured Diamonds
Diamonds come in a wide range of colours, from pink, red, yellow, orange, brown, blue, black and grey, all are unique but some are more commonly found than others. Blue, red and green diamonds are some of the rarest whereas yellow and browns are more easily sourced.
White diamonds are valued for their lack of colour and are de-valued for having a yellow or brown tone to them, yet the scale turns back on itself when a vivid colour is shown. This brings high value, alongside the other traits of a diamond, such as carat weight, cut and clarity. Chemical impurities and/or structural defects are what cause colouration and this colour grading is noted on a different scale from the numerated D-Z scale of white diamonds. Instead, coloured diamonds are categorized by intensity, a Fancy Vivid colour is the most highly regarded.
