We recently created an out of this world ring, probably our best stackable set ever!! When Annabel came in she had some really special diamonds that had belonged to her beloved Grandmother, however, she didn't wear them as they were settings were dated and not her style, but she really wanted to be able to wear them and keep the stones close to her.
She had some great diamonds which makes a commission like this a lot of fun as there are many options for design and many directions we can go with it.
She had a magnificent Marquise-cut ,this shape is well known for its good spread and edgy look. A princess-cut which has a reputation for amazing brilliance and a Heart shaped diamond.
Annabel, the creator of @Nails_by_annabel_m and @Glitterbells two successful online brands, wanted to add some colour into the mix so we showed her a selection of Sapphires from baby pink to mellow yellow. She picked out an amazing pink stone of 2 carats in an oval-cut.
It was time to get started designing some options for her. With this amount of stones to play with we would normally recommend making several pieces but Annabel was adamant on keeping them together. We came up with the idea of a stackable set which Annabel fell in love with. This way she could wear each ring separately or together in different combinations. We do sometimes make stackable sets but normally it's a look people build over time, getting new rings whenever there is a significant event in their life. On this occasion we had all these stones to play with from the start.
We got to work using 18ct Yellow gold and made 3 rings, the centrepiece was the pink Sapphire which Annabel requested be set in tiny shells to honour her daughter Pearl. They came out beautifully and elegant. The diamonds were set with fine talon claws and the whole thing was finished with a knife edge bands.
She wanted big, gold and bold and that is what she got! When all three rings are worn together it creates an explosion of sparkle and colour. We absolutely loved this commission.
